Eva Stenram

Just a handful of images from Swedish photographer Eva Stenram's 2012 'Drape' series, but what a handful. A strange but potent mix of flat, black and white photographs, retro furnishings, half-glimpsed figures and limbs combine to make this a fascinating dark domestic dream.
Diane Arbus's uneasy at-home photos and also Larry Sultan's brilliant 'The Valley' series come to mind,  and whilst Stenram freely talks about using manipulation in her work, this series feels weirdly real and poses numerous questions for the viewer:
Is this a weird sexual fantasy?
Are these people naked behind the drapes?
And is there a shoe brand bold enough to give Stenram a campaign based around this series?
